03 A Brittle Archive
2023
“A Brittle Archive” revisits the family archive and reflects on the fragility of photography. Intertwined with nostalgia and sentimentality these photos provide no clear identity to the people in them. These photos transcend individual stories, faces and places blur, a collective longing for the familiarity, universal nostalgia.
In reimagining and interpreting the archive, the notion of fragility emerges as a central theme. No longer bound by the intentions of the original creator, these images take on a life of their own, their meaning shifting and evolving with each new perspective. The creator's influence wanes, giving way to a myriad of interpretations.
